NEVER MIND ‘MR. BEAN’ HERE’S AN E-MAIL TRULY WORTH A FULL PAGE OF COVERAGE IN THE JERSEY EVENING POST (which is probably why we only got a ‘redacted’ version!)

THE FIRST OF TWO GUEST POSTINGS
FROM DEPUTY SHONA PITMAN
Dear readers
Judging by the number of contacts that I have received from members of the public – all very supportive I’m pleased to say – I expect many of you will have seen the full page coverage the JEP strangely saw fit to give a one line e-mail I had sent (29/08/2011) to other States Members.

Sent in response to an earlier e-mail from Senator Ian Le Marquand, informing us all of the exciting news that he is to stand for Chief Minister, this e-mail was allowed by the JEP to be accredited to an anonymous ‘concerned’ States Member. But why would a States Member be so concerned at such a triviality?

A good and baffling question – until you learn the actual identity of who this oh so ‘concerned’ member really is. And, just as fascinating, learn the circumstances underlying why the e-mail was sent to the JEP. But more detail on all of this in a couple of days perhaps?

I have this evening sent off a response to the letters page of the JEP. So let us first wait to see if the editor will adopt a fair and even-handed approach and actually publish my response in full. There are absolutely no reasons at all why the full response shouldn’t be published, I can assure you, and it doesn’t take up a whole page of space. Even with a large, colour photo! But should it still not be printed then I will be publishing it here on www.thebaldtruthjersey.co.uk instead for all to see within my second guest posting.

Meanwhile, having the full permission of the author I publish below an e-mail that really should have warranted a full page worth of coverage in our Island’s only newspaper. It is from Mr. Lenny Harper to the Home Affairs Minister; and asks some very serious questions that you really might have thought journalists would have been asking of the Minister themselves. As to why they haven’t  - I’ll leave you to make your own mind up…

Regards

Deputy Shona Pitman

E-mail from Mr. Lenny Harper to Senator Ian Le Marquand

Dear Mr Le Marquand,

I was disturbed to see in an exchange between yourself and Deputy Pitman an allegation that despite the well evidenced and probably unlawful leaks to the Daily Mail by Senator Perchard and Mick Gradwell that you were more concerned by the fact that I purchased a meal and other hospitality for the Chief Crime Reporter of the News of the World, thus inferring that I had acted in some way improperly and, if it concerned you more than the other stated leaks, possibly illegally.

I have sought advice on this matter and have been instructed to firstly, make a few points to you, and then to seek an explanation from you.  The points I wish to make are,

*  In stating that you find my conduct to be more concerning than the unlawful leaks mentioned above you are seeking to infer some wrongdoing on my part.  Either you are in possession of "evidence" to base this on which can only be false, or you are deliberately trying to infer I have behaved worse than this with a view to smearing myself and drawing attention away from the transgressions of  Mr Perchard and Mr Gradwell.

*  I have been instructed to counsel you against repeating these falsehoods without the protection afforded to you in the States.

*  The News of the World reporter was one of at least eight people at that meal, which was a continuation of what Sir Hugh Orde called the other day the "proper and necessary" interactions between senior police officers and the media.  Somewhere between £70 and £80 would have been spent on this journalist.  This is a far cry from the sums being talked about in the NOTW/Met Police scandal which, you will well know, relates to officers RECEIVING hospitality from suspects and possibly other payments for information.  If you are inferring that I have done this you should be clear and state it.  I can tell you now there is no truth in that particular allegation which three of your colleagues are also trying to infer without any evidence and without the courage to say it clearly.

I would like you to answer the following questions;

1.  Why do you find the fact that I used a legitimate hospitality budget to spend around £70 -£80 on a reporter in an attempt to control some of the wilder allegations the paper had been given more disturbing than the unlawful leaks of Messrs. Gradwell and Perchard?

2.  What evidence do you have to support this slur, or are you simply plucking it out of thin air?

3. Why do you pretend that the only mention of the Perchard leak is the one by me in Scrutiny evidence?  You will be aware that the SOJ made a formal complaint about it but the Chief Minister refused to investigate.  You will also be aware of the tape recording of David Rose stating that Perchard did indeed leak the police e mail to him.  There is also other evidence to support this.  Why do you ignore this?

4.  Seeing as you deplore leaks to the media so much, can I now assume that you will authorise a full, independent, and rigorous investigation into leaks during the HDLG enquiry which will cover the Perchard leak, the Gradwell and Warcup leaks, and of course, the "leaks" for which there is no evidence, but which you, Shenton, Perchard, and Power, all seem to be trying to infer, without having the courage (or in reality, the evidence) to actually come out and say, that I am supposed in your imagination to have instigated.  I would remind you that, despite the relentless attempts by you, Gradwell, Perchard, Power, Shenton, and the JEP to dig some evidence of wrongdoing up by myself, you have come up with nothing.  I now demand that you come clean with the evidence you are pretending to have when inferring that I passed information to the NOTW in the same unlawful manner as Gradwell and Perchard did to the local media and the Daily Mail.

I would hope, that unlike my last e mails to you, I receive an answer to this one.  It is time you put up or shut up.

Leonard Harper

  1. Well done Lenny!
In view of the quite amazing role of the JEP in this entire affair, you and other politicians must continue to press the Editor personally for explanations of his clearly unbalanced reporting.

  2. Well done Shona. The 'Mister Bean-gate' scenario was a joke. Eveyone I know loved it. I bet the JEP don't publish your response for some feeble reason, so look forward to it being on here. Well done to Big Trev too.

As for Lenny Harper's email, doesn't this say it all? Why are some of our politicians like the rarely seen Ben Shenton, 'Slasher Perchard and 'Email' Power so obsessed with taking the focus off of abuse? Why do the JEP go along with it?

Keep up the good work all.

  4. I bumped into Trev today and so people know the vedio link problem is down to him being a techno beginner. It is going to be removed. Great e-mail from Mr Harper. When will ILM answer these questions? Or is he just incompetent or maybe just interested in cover ups? Mr, Bean indeed? Look forward to Shona's response and guest posting.

  5. Respect Deputy Shona Pitman! Now I wonder what it will say about the media if the editor of the Jersey Evening Post won't allow you a full and frank right of reply?

To my mind this would call for a complaint to both PPC and the press complaints people as it would show clearly that the JEP are trying to paint you in a poor light while protecting their preferred candidate. Give them a day Deputy then get the complaints in.

  6. Hello Deputies

I see Lucy Mason is continuing the cover-up by pretending that the JEP don't know full well who the pathetic 'concerned' Staes member is. How can a newspaper be allowed to operate this way? It stinks.

  7. Hi

Just a reminder for the umpteenth time. I will not be publishing any posts trying to stir up conflict between other progressive politicians.

None of them are any more perfect than the rest of us. If they have aspects that some people don't like then it is up to individuals to decide the following.

Are those aspects more important than the bigger picture. Its that simple.

    Keep the faith.

  10. Hi Shona

Just laugh girl. You have worked very hard for us in the district. Why would any of us want a snoring old coward who can't even put his name to criticisms?

Mr Le Marquand where are your answers, sir? What, you don't have any? Joke.

    ReplyDelete
  11. If it was such a gross insult, how come ILM himself was laughing (in the dual page spread propaganda piece in the JEP) about having being well known for years as "Judge Bean" and he quite likes it?

The whole flare up of indignation is just the usual childish attempt to stir up trouble.

  12. Good to see Shona Blogging and equally as good to see her exposing the JEP for what we all know they are. The e-mail sent by Mr. Harper bares little resemblance of what was printed in the JEP, the 10 second mention it got on the "award winning" CTV, and the no mention on the BBC.

It reads as though Ian (Mr. Bean) Le Marquand has been threatened with legal action and almost dared to repeat his innuendo and speculation outside of the protection from the States.

Hope to see more of Shona Blogging, can't wait to see if Le Marquand is going to put up or shut up and also look forward to Shona's right of reply UN-REDACTED. Even if the JEP do publish it, could you still publish it on here as not many of us buy the JEP?

How the hell something so trivial as Le Marquand being called Mr. Bean even got close to a "news"paper is baffling considering they didn't publish Mr. Harper's e-mail which in any functioning democracy with a free press would/could be headline news!

The fact that they never published the letter from the JCLA is just another of those moments the JEP should be hanging their heads in shame.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What you have to ask us why nothing in the JEP about their darling Senator Ben Shenton who seems to think oaths to be in the States don't apply to him?

Why nothing in the JEP about how Le Main has to be challenged by Shona Pitman on the issue of up snoring. What do people think when they have sat in the public gallery and looked down to see a 'representative' with his chin on his chest, eyes closed?

Why nothing in the JEP asking why some politicians want to undermine the historic abuse inquiry?

Why nothing? because all of these muppets are establishment toadies.

  14. Tel boy Le Main has got a bad habit of trying to stay Anonymous

  15. Trevor

Could official questions be asked about the behaviour of Shenton, Perchard and co? Why is the assumption that leaks must have come from one particular person? Maybe there is truth in the old adage that some people complaineth too much?

    ReplyDelete
  16. And speaking of the JEP not publishing THE JCLA LETTER, here it is....

    ReplyDelete
  17. Shona/Trevor - It is quite uncanny that the missive from Lenny Harper to Ian Le Marquand is in very similar vein to the content of the letter that ther JCLA sent to the JEP who refused to publish. This letter, I understand has been also forwarded to the AG and Mike Bowron requesting they investigate the Perchard and Gradwell leaks.

So we are all awaiting a positive response (breath, hold, won't!). The behaviour of the JEP is deplorable and beyond belief.

Quite amusing that Ian Le Marquand could not see the real reasons for being called Mr Bean!

  18. Another excellent post.

Good to see so many differnt views. The progressive blogs are thriving. Probably because they are all so genuine and represent genuine people.

What a contrast to that old defunct site where all the posts were faked.

  25. The size of the task ahead was brought home to me this afternoon whilst I was with a couple of good old Jersey people. The discussion somehow got around to the HDLG investigation which they referred to as a farce. They even talked about having spent all that money because of a piece of coconut!

So, anyone who doubts the power of the press please take note. These two very sensible, ordinary folk have read what is in the JEP constantly and it has become the truth.

I pointed out to them that the actual evidence showed a very different picture and they were stunned. I think the only reason they might have given credence to what I was saying is that they know me to be an honest, reasonably well-informed individual.

So - onward and upward my friends!

Fair play to you for being able to explain. I have tried myself to people I work with but as soon as I do I get told to climb off the soapbox or trying to turn a minor discussion into a major debate.

The only argument on the other peoples side is that they dont agree with the so called tarnishing of Jerseys reputation. Nothing I say, facts or figures matters as long as reputation remains intact. As a bean myself i would rather it had all come out into the open, been dealt with properly and the job done and move on from there with Jersey having a reputation that it does not tolerate abuse or corruption. Ah well, one can only dream of a perfect Jersey!

  30. Re The Good Old Jersey People

Anons comment identifies a group who receive all their information about events in Jersey exclusively from the JEP. They may listen to BBC Radio Jersey occasionally, but it is “the Post” that provides received opinion. Few will have access to the net or be aware of the variety of opinion on the blogs. The JEP is a journal of opinion; that of the blogs of opinions. Unique thought as opposed to pluralistic views. It illustrates the function of the JEP as an organ of deception and propaganda on behalf of the island elites. The political system rests on these essentially honest but nieve individuals, deeply tied to their Jersey identity for meaning. The JEP manipulates a loyalty amongst “little people” and delivers it in the service of the real power holders. This is the circle of deception.

  31. The following is taken for a posting on "A View from the West". It is well worth a read and then you can draw your own conclusions.

"BBC one aired a programme last night on the unspeakably evil child abuser Derek Slade. He had been exposed previously in a radio programme in 1982. Slade abused boys in his care both physically and sexually. It is important to note how, like so many of his kind, Slade had manipulated people of influence and office, hid his past and presented an altogether different public face from the actual reality the boys in his care knew. How far other very influential people colluded with his activities is clearly hinted at.

Though he was imprisoned at one point for his violence in administering corporal punishment, he was not banned from teaching. Not even a suspension that I can tell. He had business dealings with politically key people who helped him obtain new jobs, giving character references and the like. Parallels and yet more parallels?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011w60g/An_Abuse_of_Trust/

An interesting observation I made is that Stewart Gull, formerly Assistant Chief Constable of Suffolk Police, has been appointed Chief Superintendent of the SOJP. Perhaps he will be able to bring his knowledge and experience to bear? Too much to hope for?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can you see any reference to this crash on the States of Jersey Police website?

Maybe I'm missing something but nothing appears to show anywhere. I hope I'm wrong about this but any reference seems to have been airbrushed/swept away.

Try searching the site for any of the following words separately: St Clement; crash; road; died; death; Dita

There are articles about other crashes listed but mysteriously not the St Clement's death crash.

If I am right, can you ask them why & post their response?

  33. Sorry to change the subject but re the liquidation of Charles Le Quesne Ltd - I understand from another source that the parent company was actually sold just a couple of months ago.

  34. Hi Trev

I hear you offered Freddie Cohen a bet that he will be standing after all and that he wouldn't take the bet on. I reckon that says you have got it right? Any news?

    Mark

    ReplyDelete
  35. So arrogant are some of my colleagues that 'deals' are already being offered to secure votes for Chief Minister. I may do a post on this in the near future.

But as a 'taster' let me just say that I have it on very good authority that, should he be successful, Senator Ozouf will be offering the ESC minister's job to a candidate who has never been in the States before. A candidate who also has no background in education.

Well, no change there then... You see, its not about doing what's best for the people of Jersey for most of these right-wingers - its about jobs for the boys and ensuring you get your way.

That's why 'ordinary' people need to get and vote in force.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why does this not surprise us?

    ReplyDelete
  37. In answer to the above question.

Yes, I did bet Freddie a pint that he would end up standing and I tell all readers right here that he will. Fact.

You are right though - he didn't accept the bet. My crystal ball tells me that Freddie will receive 'a deputation' from 'the people' begging him not to retire the week before nominations.

    Watch this space...

  38. It's all very well rubbishing the quality of likely establishment candidates for the CM job and other ministerial appointments - but where/who are the realistic "progressive" options?
We don't know who will actually be elected in October but surely the voters have some right to know who might be trying to challenge the Ozouf/ILM/Bailhache/Cohen/Maclean domination of Jersey government?
After all, it is relevant to know - before public voting takes place - who might have a serious ambition to be a Minister rather than to be a back-bencher.
Presumably ministerial "deals" are unstisfactory among the establishment because they are secret but when shall the "progressives" set a higher standard by declaring in public?

    Tom Gruchy says

    ReplyDelete
  39. Tom Gruchy rubbishing the progressives again while defending the establishment. I get more and more suspicious of this guy the more I read his writings.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't know which 'progressive' if any harbour genuine ambitions to be Chief Minister. Probably a few do.

But with the imbalance in the Assembly the way it has been they are probably realistic that this won't happen without the huge political sea change that most of us know is needed.

Alan Breckon must be the most realistic candidate because of the number of years experience he has. As for 'progressives' who could have genuine claim to fill various ministerial posts there are surely quite a few.

I am certain that Trevor could be a far better Education minister than James Reed and he has the background. I think you have even said in the past that if you stand again and are re-elected you would go for this? Am I right, Trevor?

Alan Breckon would be great at Housing. Judy Martin, Shona Pitman, Francis Le Gresley or - like him or not - Geoff Southern at Social Security. Mike Higgins at Economic Development. Ted Vibert too for that matter. Daniel Wimberley at Environment. Carolyn Labey to replace Freddie Cohen as 'Foreign Minister'!

And anyone who can add up and isn't in the States just to look after the rich at the Treasury!

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Daniel Wimberley at Environment. "

    Daniel. sadly, isn't standing.

  42. Deputy Paul The Eclaire, should he hoodwink enough people that he is not full of nothing but hot air, could turn this to the benefit of us islanders by being Minister for wind. The States could pay for the turbines he could make sure they generate power all the time by just keeping talking.

  43. Hi

I held the comment about Daniel back for a few minutes on seeing it because if true this was news to me. But I have decided to let it through until I learn otherwise.

I hope he does stand because for all of his long speeches he is an excellent States Member in my view. Analytical, honest and wanting the best for all.

  49. The JEP - Journal (of the) Establishment party6 August 2011 at 15:48:00 BST

    Trevor/Shona

Isn't it weird how we haven't seen anything in the JEP yet from Shona putting her side of the JEP's allowing Terry Le Main to pretend to be an anonymous concerned States member leaking your emails to try and help his doomed election campaign?

Even more weird when I see in today's Rag that some idiot is falsly stating that you both supported Ozouf and Gorst's move to prevent higher earners paying more Social Security contributions. I know you both voted that this should have been increased so how come the JEP, who reported on it, allow this to be stated? Got it in for you two or what?

You ought to report these shysters to the Press Complaints Commission or whatever it is called. Clearly done deliberately most would conclude. And what about the usual rubbish spun by this mr Machan that 1 1 ks all pay £100,000? LOL! More utter crap as all of Trevor;s questions have proven to us again and again.

Time someone started up a newspaper worthy of the name.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Has Ozouf accepted your challenge to debate tax dodging multi-millionaires yet, Deputy? I really would love to see him be brave enough. His defence of this on his ridiculous blog is a joke and the JEP only repeat his half-truths as if they were fact. Come On, Philip. Be a big brave boy. he could always get the 'Establishment's' most loyal supporter Tom Gruchy Dunn to do some dodgy research for him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tis high time the Jersey Evening Post were kicked out of the States Chamber. Just compare listening to what is actually said in any debate to what is written by the hacks.

You would think they were completely different debates. The only thing that is consistent is that the likes of you and Shona and the other peasants are always portayed as badly as possible.

It is also obvious from what is said above that the JEP want to get even a useless dinosaur like Le Main elected rather than Shona. This in itself shows how in need of some kind of checks and safeguards on the mainstream media we are. Keep plugging away you two your work is appreciated.

  54. The Troll still talking to himself. Bit like Gollum in the Lord of the rings film. Maybe it was him?

    ReplyDelete
  55. It will be a shame if Jolly Green Giant Wimbers doesn't stand. Like Trevor says he has been an excellent addition to the States. The bloke going for his seat doesn't appear up to much.

On the plus side Le Main will be free to snore as much as he wants in enforced retirement. Perchard will be gone too. If it is true that Freddy Cohen is standing after all then much as I don't rate him Ben 'Empty Chair'Shenton could well be gone as well. Like that comdeian says on TV 'Good times!'

Thing is, as Shenton is hardly ever in the States for more than half an hour just taking the taxpaying public's money to go off to the private business premises he won't really notice the difference will he?

    ReplyDelete
  56. So the Walker/Le Sueur/Ozouf gang are getting pretty jittery. They already have two secret candidates planted in your district Trevor and others elsewhere.

Mary O'Keefe-Burgher (have I got that namw right?) let slip to another politician that she 'is one of Frank's' . According to him poor Mary thought that he was one of Frank's too! James Baker is being proposed by hapless Senator Paul Routier and is, I'm told, a follower of the Zoof and himself.

These people must be stopped at all costs or Jersey will be past the point of no return as a private club for rich people. We have too many of what you call 'head-nodders' already.

Agree with you and GeeGee about Dan Wimberley. A good bloke all round.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Would this be Mary who doesn't even have any political principles on her website? I expect she is just waiting to nick ideas from other people. That or tell the gullible what they want to hear agreeing with all and everything? Some of these people are a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Are the Friends of Tel Boy at the Jersey Evening Post going to allow Shona a reply to their ridiculous Mr Bean 'story'?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I see on his blog Ted Vibert is now taking credit for being the "first" to make the world aware that Freddie Cohen intends to stand for election.

How do you feel about that, Trev?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not a big deal is it who names who as standing first? With elections coming along I just hope we won't get the tiny majority playing into the hands of the right by harping on about old conflicts. If the progressives do that the right will be home and dry.

    ReplyDelete
  61. People have to stand together I totally agree anonymous.

If candidates forget about the bigger picture and take their eye off the real enemy things will only get worse.

People need to adopt the same attitude that you are displaying Trev.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Nothing to do with the post I'm afraid Trevor but I just wanted to say this. I don't agree with Stuart Syvret on the way he did many things but I am pleased he wasn't sent to jail. This would have been over the top and wrong. I just hope like a lot of other people that all of you decent politicians can work tegether. At least to the point of making sure we get the Ozouf bunch and their pathetic followers out. There will always be differences as we are all human. But comparatively small differences shouldn't undermine the overall and much more important goal. All the best to all of you.

    Jon

    ReplyDelete
  63. 'Jon E. Nomates' (love the name!) I agree 100%. As Rico puts it 'unity is the only way forward'. The stirrers and snipers need to be ignored. That way there might be some real hope.

  64. Comment Helier Clement. jep

''When first I read that Deputy Trevor Pitman was proposing that a referendum be held on planned new tax rules for wealthy imigrants, my initial reaction was to question what on earth he was doing pulling down the better part of a grand in his pay packet every Friday lunchtime when he wanted me and the many thousands of others who pay his wages to do his job for him.

Even now, ages after having first read of his proposal, I feel just as angry.

Coming up with the referendum idea every time something populist or difficult raises its head isn't really clever, and Deputy Pitman and the others among our elected representatives who support this idiotic idea ought to realise that.

The fact that he has chosen this particuylar subject tells me more about who promotes the politis of envy than anything else.

Whether we like them or like them not, wealthy immigrants are now so much an integral part of our economy - and have been since Deputy Pitman was in short pants, if not in nappies - that they are here to stay.

Furthermore, in terms of their personal profit and loss accounts in relation to the economy, they are probably the least likely to cost the rest of us money; the likelihood is that they themselves pay for what they need from education and health services, and are unlikely to need income support.

My second reason for disliking what Deputy Pitman has come up with is that I have an inherent fear of referendums which has nothing to do with lazy politicians not wanting to make their own decisions, nor has it anything to do with me wanting to deprive people of involvement in the political process.

The reason is simple. At present the British government seems to be concouraging its electorate to stick their names on petitions with the vague promise of allowing time in parliament for those which a)get a given number of signatures and b) have subject matter which meets with the approval of a committee of MPs.

One such is for the restoration of the death penalty - a frightening thought to those, like me, who believe in the fallibility of everyone in the judicial process from eye-witnesses to the highest court in the lan.

A referendum on the death penalty after particular gruesome child murders for example will bring only one result: a massive vote in favour of its restoration. Posthumouse pardons did precious little for Derek Bentley and Timothy Evans - both of whom met their deaths on the end of a rope and both of whom were subsequently pardoned.

I am old enough to remember those cases, and they have convinced me that the possibility of error far outweighs anything else on this issue.

Politicians, we fervently hope, are better able to consider issues dispassionately than are the public. And besides, that's what they're paid to do, for heaven's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Unity and working together sounds ok but means nothing unless there are some shared and declared policies. It's not just a matter of holding hands - the thinking electorate want candidates who put forward positive proposals "in unity" to counter-act the establishment.

It is also ridiculous to keep name calling Ozouf, Le Marquand and Maclean and saying that they must be outed. The fact is that they are not up for election and Le Sueur is retiring. There simply is no electoral contest with these people in October!

If there are "united" progressive policies against the policies of Ozouf, Le Marquand & Co then let the voters know what they are and who supports an alternative future for Jersey.

Time is rapidly running out. An election with no direction is just what the establishment want.
Lack of unity ON POLICIES will return the usual array of random independents with big egos and tiny franchises.

The 28 September is JERSEY REFORM DAY. Any "progressives" who want to express their voice IN UNITY could do so on that day in the Royal Square - but I shall not hold my breath

  66. Looking forward to Shona's next posting.

Must be soon. Surely given The Rag long enough time to print it by now. Therefore they are not going to.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi

I'll be dealing with 'Helier Clement's' childish and staggeringly inaccurate ramblings in a response that I am writing to the JEP.

Of course, whether they will print it is highly debatable - just consider that they have had a response from Shona to their collusion with Terry 'Concerned anonymous States Member'Le Main on 'Mr. Bean' for over a week and not yet published.

Why? Well, Shona can - and will be - speaking for herself on the matter. But in my view because theJEP don't want to let her highlight a few things - wholly factual - that they have chosen not to report on somebody standing in the same district... Not to mention some appalling, underhand behaviour from Philip Ozouf at the last States sitting.

Still, can't say that I am shocked with the 'Helier' hatchet job. Some of you might remember when this 'journalist' had to apologise for falsly saying that I had broken 'Standing Orders'when, of course, I had done no such thing.

Worse still, this hypocrite was then revealed to not have even heard the debate and comments he still saw fit to slag me off for!

I'll be responding too to the equally inaccurate letter published from one George Machan. This individual tried to take me to task for criticising 1 (1) Ks whilst apparently voting (along with Shona)to reject making higher earners pay increased Social Security contributions.

Once again, of course, this is entirely untrue. Both Shona and I wholly supported making higher earners - including us - pay more.

But then as one of my constituents commented to me: 'since when did facts ever stop the JEP trying to portray people who don't toe the Establsihment Party line in a false and/or negative light?'

New post during the week. Sorry 'Helier' some of us aren't lazy and have huge constituent portfolios that demand our time. Still, how is Sark these days? Or is somebody else hiding behind the mantle these days?

  68. The right certainly seem to be getting desperate going by the calibre of some of the people intending to stand. One of the worst former Bailiffs of all time. Andrew Lewis, who made such a mess of Home Affairs. Terry Le Main bottling out of fighting to keep his Senatorial seat and hoping to get lucky - make that very lucky - in the Deputies in Number Two. Not surprizing to be fair given the even bigger mess he made at Housing, not to mention a few other 'issues'people will be asking for answers on. Freddy Cohen changing his mind again. So he can jaunt off around the world as an unelected foreign minister with his mate Philip? Then we have some of the new no-hopers like Frankies' girl Mary in St. Helier Number One, and equally lightweight candidates hoping to get lucky in St. Martin and St. Mary. Not forgetting Philip Ozouf's close chum Christina in St. Peter! If this lot get in Trevor then it really is finito for Jersey in terms of any cross-the-board prosperity for working people. Don't you agree?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I couldn't agree more with Ben. The right really is scraping the barrel going by what we have seen so far. The Progressives just have to make sure they don't get side-tracked and I can't see many of them facing much of a genuine challenge. It will be the country parishes where right wing cabbages on sticks can get elected if they have a well known relative that will make or break things. I am also very pleased to see Stuart who I still admire a great deal for all of his faults standing.

  71. Hi

Just a quick post to Basil and Halcinder (hope I got that right!) I am behind with some of my e-mail replies - but I will get back to you ASAP. The last three weeks have been amazingly busy with constituent work - not that this is an excuse.

    Thanks

    Trevor

    ReplyDelete
  72. You and the other progressives need to post a weekly summary of what you've achieved that week, so the electors can see how hard you work.
It's easy for the establishment brownnosers to criticise you guys, but imagine if, once a week, you post a rundown of x constituents helped, x meetings attended, x hours worked, etc. The more detail the better (without real names involved that would cause privacy issues).
People need to see that their election choices are worthwhile and that you guys are indeed pulling your weight.
The blogs make it trivial - you could sum up your week in minutes once a week, and there would be no arguing with the facts.

  73. With Ballache standing, the question for this coming election must be exposed for what it is:

Do you want Jersey to split from the UK ?

    Yes or No ?

As they won't give the public of Jersey a referendum on the matter, we have to vote to ensure his true agenda is not realised.

This message needs to get out as the usual suspects (JEP BBC & ITV) sure as hell won't mention it.

In answer to your question, no, I haven't fallen out with Montford in any shape or form. He is another one of the good guys.

Yes, I have a link to his and a few other politicians websites on my links page on my main website.

Maybe he hasn't seen the link though I know I told him I had done one ages ago. At the end of the day it is up to him which sites he wants to puts links to on his own site. Same goes for anybody else.

As it happens I will be updating my links with a few other sites I have found to be of interest very soon.

I went to the 'open meeting' held by Mary O'Keefe-Burgher. Not impressed at all. Only about six people there. As for her 'manifesto' I would say it is superficial and completely lacking in any depth. I don't think any of you should lose sleep over this candidate with or without Frank Walker's backing.

  79. Dear Deputy Pitman,

Knowledge is power and planetjersey is run by a new team that has had to use a big broom and is now again growing and a useful archive.

The Forum is moving forward helped by Admin, who has started to put up the voting records of politicians. This is very useful in more ways than one.

A quick check for example shows that the Regs Skips debate, which cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands to cover legal fees of both the department and skip company all caused by the mistakes of some, egotistical out of control Planning Department staff, should have obviously been investigated. This was taken out of the hands of the Planning Minister and decided on by members of the house.

Who do you think said " no" to accountability. A good reference tool for the forth- coming elections.

    (e) to request the Chief Minister to request the States Employment Board to investigate the
poor actions of employees in the Planning Department as highlighted in R.118/2010 and
take the necessary action, as appropriate.

Members present voted as follows –

    POUR: 33 CONTRE: 14 ABSTAIN: 1

Not being a reader, or buyer, of the JEP has Shona's reply been published or are they refusing to publish it like they refused to publish a letter from the Jersey Care Leavers? If the latter will you now publish it here?

On another note after reading the "Anonymous" Helier Clement rant against you (to be expected in an election year) at least you, unlike him/her have the courage to post under your own name. Again which is something more than can be said for a select few of our politicians, who also are up for election this year. But more about them soon......

    ReplyDelete
  82. After all the hot air and spin from the right and their trolls about how popular they all are it looks like the true picture is now emerging.

Tel Boy Le Main the first to bottle trying to defend his 'island-wide' mandate. Has it finally clicked how people actually expect their representatives not just to be in the States when they should but be awake and playing a fully active part?

My bet is Perchard will be next to come up with a feeble excuse about 'going back to his roots'. Quite possible Shenton will follow will a record of going off to the day job while we pay his his politician's wageslike his.

Let us tell you this Tel Boy. Here in no 2 we don't want you and you haven't got a hope. Maybe you should just go back to sleep now?

    ReplyDelete
  83. If Terry Le Main is so concerned about providing 'affordable' housing as he is claiming in the JEP could he tell us why he has done so little to make it a reality throughout his disastrous time in charge of Housing?

    ReplyDelete
  84. I am pleased to see Terry Le Main on his last active service mission for the Establishment. He will enjoy the metaphorical street fights, even in such advanced years. I am sure that St Helier No2 will be the graveyard of his reputation. As it began, so it ends.

How could the ten who must sign his nomination paper ever live with themselves and walk amongst the community in dignity? Such humiliation should not befall honest folk.

    To a dog – a dog’s death!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree. Tel Boy never was up to much in my humble opinion. I don't even think Jimmy will stand because having done so little and all of it badly his chances must be pretty near to zero. Slightly better than Tel's though.

  87. Hi Trevor

On a completely different subject here. On seeing the online JEP on Saturday 13th - Kyran Bracken is 'extremely angry and frustrated' with the decision over his house in St Catherine. Now correct me if I am wrong - but was Mr Bracken borne in the Island? I don't think he was. Has he earned his housing qualifications? Also, I thought you needed to be continually resident here to keep your housing qualifications. Kyran does not live here and has not lived here for some years, so how can he own property???

  95. Big Trev.

Just watched the old 2 minute couch sketch that were afforded by the "award winning" CTV. The big mistake you made was mentioning the Child Abuse. CTV aren't interested in Child Abuse they won an award for cut and pasting the BDO/Alto Report about how much money was spent in Restaurants. CTV want to keep that award and don't want a pesci little detail of decades of Child Abuse spoiling a good story.

Here's another thing that the "award winning" CTV neglect to mention. David Warcup and Mick Gradwell spent HALF A MILLION QUID more than Power and Harper. How the hell did they manage that???? They had no major crime scene, no forensics experts sifting through debris, no excavation. But that doesn't suit CTV's agenda does it?

On another note, did I hear correctly that BDO/Alto have billed the Scrutiny Panel TWENTY SIX THOUSAND POUNDS for bringing their paperwork to your panel? But kindly discounted it to FOURTEEN THOUSAND POUNDS? You just couldn't make this stuff up!!!

BDO/Alto has done a review on expenditure/value for money etc. and thinks paying them SIXTY FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS for their original Report and FOURTEEN THOUSAND POUNDS for turning up to a Scrutiny Panel Hearing is good use of tax payers money?????????????

I trust the Scrutiny Panel have told BDO/Alto to "go and sing for it"? They want 78K of tax payers money, for a Report that was about as much use as Ian Le Marquand replying to questions without answers in the States and for turning up with that Report at a Scrutiny Hearing!!!! Bl--dy priceless!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Deputy

I must say that your interview was very impressive. You are a brave man indeed. How pathetic that the media keep going on about the 7.5 million yet never bother to point out that Warcup and Gradwell spent the larger part of the figure. Mind boggling! Your point about the firm wanting payment for attending Scrutiny was shocking. The hypocrisy is astounding. Keep it up on behalf of our people.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The establishment are rocking and their media mates with them. Well done Trevor.

So Warcup says he didn't stop BDO from speaking to Harper?

Kellet didn't know what TOR he was working to?

Warcup didn't notice for four months?

Warcup didn't think the way things were going were objective or fair?

Ian Le Marquand couldn't remember anything?

And yet we still get the three Senatorial buffoons keep trying to rubbish those of you brave enough to keep asking questions!

    INCREDIBLE!

And even though looking at the above you have unearthed enough to seriously question and more than justify this review...the firm want you - or us taxpayers - to pay them for giving you answers!!!

As for the sums being bandied about if these are true it is nothing short of shameful. All we need to learn now is that the bill is being passed on from ILM's Home Affairs Shambles Unit to Scrutiny and we will have heard it all.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Hi

Scrutiny will be putting out a very interesting press release at the beginning of next week.

While I will not go into specific details before it comes out, what I can say is it raises some very serious issues relating to recent events. Whether the media will actually report it will be particularly interesting for all those who genuinely care about political transparancy.

Certainly whether or not the JEP will run the story - given their recent colusion in allowing Senator Terry Le Main to hide his cowardice behind the mantle of an anonymous 'concerned' States Member when actually seeking to misrepresent someone he is hoping to stand against - yet refused to allow a response from Deputy Shona Pitman unless they could 'edit' the cold, hard facts that she had highlighted about a few instances involving the old snorer himself the JEP had conveniently NOT reported, you would have to think this unlikely.

Nevertheless, the truth will out in the end as the saying goes.

Meanwhile, I would also quickly respond to someone calling himself 'Jon' who left a message asking if I could help him find a new job as he says he is likely to be redundant soon. Not knowing who this person is I can only say that if he gives me some more details and a contact I will, of course, try and do my best.

    Keep the faith.

  117. Hi

No, the Scrutiny press release will be going to all 'media' who show an interest (and some, no doubt, who rather would not!) 'accredited' and 'citizens'.

It will be fascinating to see who has the backbone and integrity to publish and consider it. The role of all media in a true democracy is to report news - not try and spin it in a certain way or suppress what they don't like.

But who will pass that test? By Tuesday we should have some answers...

    Keep the faith.

    Trevor

    ReplyDelete
  118. I'm not a betting person Trevor, but I suspect if the 'accredited' media do publish any of it, they will cherry pick the least unfavourable parts, whereas Citizen's media (VFC and Rico for starters) will publish in its fullest form.

    ReplyDelete
  119. This charging scrutiny thousands of pounds matter is an absolute disgraceful abuse of the public's money. Can we expect Ian Le Marquand and his dwindling little band of followers, Shenton, Perchard, Power and Le Main and co to come out and condemn this? I doubt it. Lucky the firm in questions aren't called something like 'Harpers'.

    ReplyDelete

Possibly even tomorrow. With the Scrutiny hearing interviewing Ian Le Marquand there should certainly be somthing to write about. Even if it is only to comment on how, unlike his last appearance, the Minister will at least have remembered who he is and what he does...

The aforesaid press release should be finalised tomorrow too, so once it is on its way to the media I will try and get it up on here as well.

  136. Did anonymous mean '100% accurate'? If Tel were to somehow fluke and bull his way to success - the people can't be that daft surely - it would be a disaster for the worse off in number 2. All Tel cares about his getting a nice comfortable chair in th states to snooze in as far as I am concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  137. You certainly are on a roll with your predictions Trevor. Who would have thought that the States worst attendee in modern hisstory would have chickened out like Perchard?

The usual predictable personal insults from this most useless of Senators upon leaving though. How someone who has hardly ever been in the Chaamber to do any work can call other people over paid is mind boggling.

Good rid Ben. Now we just need Power out. I'm not counting Le Main has I've not met one person in the district who will consider voting for him. He may have pulled off a few strokes in his time but everyone and their dog can see that he is only trying for No.2 because he has no chance of getting re-electd as a Senator.

  140. The warning from the Rag to its readers, of Deputy S Pitman's letter on the following pages and getting this warning placed next to failed Senator Shentons advert slagging Deputies and blogs.

    Is disgusting!

The Rag are doing this because they can!

  141. Rod Bryans standing again? Oh God can they scrape the barrel any lower? The great thing about having Shona's letter in the JEP the day before is it will show up this ridiculous little man's squealling last time for what it was. Sour grapes from a candidate who just wasn't any good. Beaten by what...about 180 odd votes Mr Bryans and yet you still tried to call for a re-election over Shona helping two disabled people apply to be regisstered for a postal vote. Frankly you disgust me Mr Bryans. You should be supporting such disadvantaged people play their part in the democratic process not trying to ccover up your own shortcomings. PATHETIC! We expect this type of misrepresentation and lies from Jonnie the troll but not candidates who cclaim they want to represent us. A dead electoral duck just like the useless Le Main.

  142. Trevor. I know you don't wwish to accept posts about trolling and the like but maybe you will consider publishing this just once because it is trying help. I mean they say sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, don't they.

The laatest antics of a troll. Obviously having no friends and now finding even the people he attacks so viciously getting bored with patiently listening to his incoherent early morning and late night phone calls when the drink is wearing off out of pure pity, he has even resorted to cornering and bending the ear of yet another progressive down at the Town Hall.

As if he was interested the troll wanted to tell him how he was moving address into a different district. The progressive kept his true thoughts to himself and smiled kindly on the fool. But what's up he was thinking - have the neighbours been complaining about the smells and bottles or something?

But as to just why this individual is so sad, pathetic and full of hate who can tell? For a normal human being most people might have some compassion at all of this. Trouble is when all someone does is spread lies and hate that is going to go out of the window eventually.

The saddest or funniest thing about all of this, depending upon your point of view, is just how this sad and repulsive creature goes about his dull embittered life without facing up to his behaviour.

Posting to himself hour after hour, removing the tmes to try and pretend they are from real people, to a defunct and dead site only lawyers and private investigators view to monitor for future charges. Funnier still - surely knowing that every sad little hate-filled attack on people is being traced from his multiple addresses!

And yet still this sad little creature keeps on. Gollum in the Lord of the Rings in human form?

  143. The troll is old news. No one is interested anymore. We're bored with him. We need new idiots with new fresh ideas. No one is listening its yesterdays news. Doctor can I have my medication now?

  144. Shona's letter in the jep made me chuckle. Certainly showed up Tel boy for what he is. With two of the most useless Senators, Perchard and Shenton, who have contributed so little to trying to make life better for us plebs standing down. You really have to hope the likes of Tel boy and the cackle sisters who interupt the radio broadcasts with their muttering, Dupre and Jeune, also vanish. If we could just keep the former Bay Leaf out too there may even be hope for this island at last.Always darkest just before dawn as someone once said.

  145. Hi Trev

Had a chat to Shona today here in no. 2. So pleased to learn that she is standing. She has been a great representative for us here. When I heard that idiot Le Main trying to tell the BBC that people were asking him to stand because none of the current deputies represented them I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Who is this fool trying to kid? I would rather vote for Ozouf than Le Main and that is saying one hell of a lot. Everyone knows why he is reaally trying to worm his way back in as a deputy. Its because his shocking record means he was 100% certain to lose his senators seat. Your fooling nobody Terry.

  146. Deputy Trevor Pitman

How are you getting on with your writing about the Scrutiny hearing and the press release?

Which your assured us 5 days ago, would be soon.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Anonymous

The press release will be out to the media - both mainstream and Citizens - on Tuesday morning. Of course, who actually covers it and looks honestly at the issues raised will be another matter...

Indeed, should the mainstream media not cover it - fairly or at all - then this will actually just re-affirm the concerns. As for the delay, anonymous, all I can say is this isn't just a press release from one individual.

The concerns are those picked by both the panel members and Scrutiny officers. Nobody wants to write the media's stories for them (well, the Establishment Party aside) but in a democracy we surely should expect fairness and all sstories to be fact based.

The presss release will be published here as a post.I'm afraid my other wwork just hasn't allowed me time to write.

    Keep the faith.

    Trevor

  148. Look forward to seeing what all of this is about! The Channel interview, or rather the person interviewing you, didn't seem to have a clue what the review was about.

  149. I had a good chuckle this weekend when my mate who is a bit of a IT geek (sorry Kev - genius) put a load of comments picked from Channel on line and the defunct morons'blog through some arty-farty software he has. Turns out 97% of all the posts attacking Syvret, Trevor and Shona, and people who definitely don't qualify as tax dodger's spivs generally have highly probably been written by one saddo!

    Step forward Phone rant Jon!

When Kev went through it with me you can quite clearly see the give away traits. But where I had to tell Kev he isn't so smart is paying for software when all you have to do is look at the fact that the defunct morons'blog still has the timings of all its 'posts' removed! LOL! Come on Jon (or Adrian, Ben, Jimmy or Terry) give us poor peasants a half plausible explanation for the removed timings and we might consider that you are only 99% bitter, twisted losers and not the full 100%.

  152. Just watched the VFC interview. This is the sort of interview that ought to win people awards. Are you watching Channel?

  153. Hello Trevor

Know you will be busy but when do you think you will be putting up the post and press release you talked about? Good interview on Voice. Smell a rat, more like a huge pile of elephant dung. How does our media get away with it?

Looks like Jon boy and Ady are almost certainly on their way to court before the end of the year. Too late to wipe the files now boys! How tragic - not. Having a record like Jon boy's it ain't rocket science either to guess where he is likely to be spending Christmas. I suppose all of that hate and fake bravado in spreading lies was always going to end in tears eventually for these two slime balls.

  156. It is just a pity that your blog along with others who think like you cannot be put out to the whole of the Island like the JEP/CTV/BBC.
The people really need to know the truth of what and how Jersey is being governed. Why can't the members of the States who are not in the establishment party get together and vote out the mad schemes that the establishment party come up with just to feather their own nests. If only they realised that they could hold the power to govern the Island in the way it should be.
